CSA is community supported agriculture - by paying for your weekly vegetable share early on in the growing season, the farm is able to purchase essential supplies (seeds! compost! tools! electricity to start seedlings!) when they're needed most. You get a whole season of produce to look forward to, the farm gets to pay the bills - everyone wins!
You can expect a ½ bushel box (about a large grocery bag full) containing generally 8-12+ items per share. That should be enough to feed 2-3 vegetable loving adults, or a normal family of 4. (I can eat a full share myself in a couple days, but...)
You’ll also receive a weekly newsletter detailing what’s in your box along with recipe ideas and farm updates.
What kinds of vegetables? There will be greens, roots, various herbs, garlic and other oniony things, soft fleshy stuff, spicy things, the ones that are technically a fruit but generally not thought of as such, some that are good for roasting and others that are nice to eat raw. What kinds of vegetables do you like?
The summer CSA season runs for 16 weeks - from mid-June until late September.
Shares are $400 for the full season - holy cow that's only $25/week! ***
Pickup is Friday afternoons (anytime after 3) in Beach Park, IL or Saturdays 8-1 at the Edgewater Farmer's Market, Thorndale & Broadway in Chicago, IL.
Ready? Sign up online. Or email me to get my Paypal or Venmo info. Or print out a form and mail a check.
There's a payment plan available - pay $200 now and the remaining $200 by June 1st.

***Due to ridiculous transaction fees from Squarespace, Paypal, and Stripe, the online store has 5% added to the share cost. If you don't want to pay that, mail a check/give me cash/email or text me for direct e-payment info. It is equally simple, and keeps a few dollars out of the pocket of The Man.
